Just bought a new alternator Lucas NAB300. It was identical to the one I had on which 'seems' to have failed. Now on the back I have got B+ terminal and a 'W' terminal. So please correct me if Im wrong:
B+ goes to the starter solenoid>battery- connect the large brown wire to this one
W goes to the tacho which I dont have so no connection.
So that leaves me searching for somewhere to connect the small brown/yellow wire for the charging light. From what I can determine Ill have to connect this to the smaller euro spade terminal (yellow arrow in attached pic).
BTW the previous alternator had this wire connected to the 'W' terminal which Im assuming is wrong.
This might give you some insight

Thanks. Have connected the brown/yellow to the IND or D+ spade terminal. Warning light seems to function as the light extinguishes after a few seconds after starting once I get the revs up a bit. But the car is still not running properly. Its starts easily but then cuts out after 10-15secs. Im hoping the battery is just low as I think it was drained as the alt died. On the charge now so Ill see what happens.
Being a diesel,it isn't going to be the battery that is causing the car to cut out.You might check the connection of the fuel cut off wire to the pump though.
