    Warning Light in my D3

    G'day everybody

This morning, when I started the D3 up, I got this warning light on.

(for the smartasses, it is the one circled in red and not the seatbelt light....)

I started driving and after a couple of K's it switched off. I did not notice anything strange from the vehicle and it drove as usual.

Cant find anything in the manual describing this warning light and dont know how to search based on an image..

So, could someone tell me should I be worried? Take it to the dealer? BTW, I have a scan gauge II and I scanned for any fault codes and there were none...

The vehicle is a 2008 D3 TDV6 S and yes... it has only done 33K Km...

    Any suggestions/help appreciated

    Cheers

Never seen one of them and it is not in my handbook. In that spot I have a LCD display for navigating through the trip computer - that looks like a LED display.

Can't help on this one even after looking at my handbook.

Looks like a telephone still on the hook.

Better to investigate before driving that's for sure.

Hmm.. Seems like dswatts is spot on!!

    Check this link:

    Warning lights | The AA

Right at the bottom, it says "fuel filter water trap" and the image looks scary similar to mine...

And if we do decide it is the water in fuel and it has switched off... my next question is, do I ignore it coz of all the rain we have had for the last couple of days in Sydney?

    Whatdoyarecon?

I'd be getting it checked out real soon - diesels and water are like "supermodels" and "smiling" - they just don't go together !!!!!

You have the 'low line" instrument panel which is different to higher speced cars.

The workshop manual indicates this is water in the system but is non functional. From the workshop manual.

    "28. Water In Fuel Indicator
    This indicator is non-functional."

The manual indicates that if water is detected there is a chime.

If I were you I would get this all checked out to be on the safe side and I would do a precautionary drain of the fuel filter.

What does your handbook say - noting you have a different instrument cluster than most of us have.

    Thanks for that Garry!

I did not know that even the instrument panel could be different between the models! But my handbook did not have any info on this warning at all in it. This was my first port of call anyways.

Perhaps the hand book is a generic one.. coz it has lot of other things/features which my model does not have!

I did not get any chimes though.. the warning light came on when I started the car and went off after 2-3 km's and has so far not come up agian. I will see this avo and perhaps give LR a call.

    What does non-functional mean?

    Cheers

Not supposed to work - but clearly yours does. Of course if there was water in your system it should stay on - but I would be draining the fuel filter before continuing to drive the car as a precaution.

See the attached PDFs in this thread - about half way down.

I had this come on for a few moments in my D3 - normally after getting the bottom of the car soaked (puddle, fording etc). Not at every soaking, mind. Went off after a few moments. I drained the fuel filter the first couple of times, but there was no evidence of water. I concluded it was a sensor error.

    Cheers,
