    High pressure fuel pump error

Anyone experienced an error with the high pressure fuel pump?

Mine tells the computer it's not up to pressure and it only has 134k km On the clock. The warning shuts off the special programs and all sorts of stuff meaning you don't go anywhere.

Seems a bit young for this problem and wondering if there were any other unfortunates out there with the same experience.

    2005 TDV6.

    Thanks in advance.

    Peter,
This has happened to a few of the vehicles around, there was also a recall for a certain VIN range, P008 was the LR number, I would ring & enquire with your dealer to see if your vehicle was within the range & has been or needs to be done.
    Cheers

Thx and the fuel pump issue seemed to be a later model. There was a recall for that issue and this does not include my model.

I have called LR about it directly.

Don't tell me... their response will be "That's the first time we've ever heard about this happening!"

Had the fuel pump go in my 2008 TDV6, but it took them months to diagnose it correctly. Replaced the battery, main ECU, some wiring. Every couple of weeks the car would die with multiple errors, ususally at highway speed or going up a hill. No further problems since the pump was replaced.

Thanks guys and the story so far...

Computer suggests the sensor could be playing up. The pressure seems within range and there is no real way of checking as the sensor can not be checked or replaced independently of the pump.

As this is not the first time Shane (SBL) has had a sensor problem which confused the ECU into doing odd things (a RRS with a faulty oil temp sensor) so he is seeing what other checks can be done before we order the replacement bit$.

Will let you know what happens.

I had the same issue in my 2008 TDV6 HSE. Warning lights came on and I tried to reset it a couple of times. When I came to a stop there was no drive. reset it to get going and it was OK until i could get it to MLR. Computer fault code said fuel pump and they replaced it uner waranty as i only had approx 80,000 k's on it. I have upgraded to a new D4 HSE and believe problem has been fixed.

More information the pump pressure is within tolerance 23k psi and the low pressure side 7psi.

The fuel pressure regulator error high.

So the simple answer replace the pump.

Shane is going to back test the ecu and eliminate as many issues as he can.

    Any advice is welcome.

One more thing... Anyone got a brand new pump for a 2005 tdv6?

Obviously LR has one for $1500 and am after an alternative.

    Peter,
I saw a new one on eBay the other day from All 4x4 at Kotara, NSW - but it is for MY07 and later models.

(EDIT) Sorry Peter - it is for the later models than yours... Maybe getting one direct from UK might be cheaper?

    Cheers,
    Rob
