    6cyl diesel landrover???

Is it possible to fit a Toyota 6cyl diesel into a series 2? Most likely a H or 2H I think.

Yes it is, but is easier if you have a 6cyl 109 Land Rover because of the space requirements and the usual way is to use the original Toyota gearbox and transfer case and couple them to your original diffs with hybrid prop shafts.

If you then want to use the Toyota diffs, one would ask why don't you just go and buy a Toyota?

Please tell me you're not planning it on the SII Station Wagon?

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

NO WAY..... should have explained myself better. Im going to have a look at a 109 that is for sale, the owner seems to think it has a 6cyl diesel toyota engine in it. I will know for sure when i look at it, i have just not heard of this conversion before so i thought i would ask here.

I went and looked at this today. It's really shabby, but it appears to possibly be ex military. It has the brackets on the fenders for tools, it's a style side? with canvas cover on the rear. It's a 1979 model. If it's of any interest to anyone I can pass on the details.

What was the engine and how did it fit?

I didn't get to have a really good look, the owner is away. He said I can drop in and check it out, but keep an eye out for the old red cattle dog quote "he looks harmless but he doesn't mind a chew." so I was a bit on edge to say the least. I had a quick look under the bonnet and it is 6 cyl diesel and looked to be the early "H" motor which I think is 3.6L
It fit in well actually, but must have issues staying cool. You'll like the next bit, to help out cooling issues it has 2 radiators, the original LR one then out in front of the grill is has another (looks to be falcon). Plumbed in series. It has done alot of beach work but some bits are salvageable depending on rarity I suppose. Anyway here's a couple pics
