    D4 Key Fob

    Hey Guys
Just wondering if anyone knows of other 'tricks' that the key fob might do, e.g. global opening (I think its called!). Its a 2.7 disco, if that makes a difference.

    Cheers

    Dave

The global opening on the D4 is press & hold the unlock for about 5sec & the windows open. The stupid thing is LR won't activate global close. "Safety issue" surely there aren't people that are happy to keep their kids in the car AND have all the windows up.

I'd like to know more tricks but they all seem a bit complicated.

    Cheers Rob

The dealer showed me how to raise and lower the car using the key fob, but I can't remember how he did it now.

Said it was useful for caravaner's to hitch up.

One handy trick it will do, is cut tape on a package you get in the post. Switchblade action helps build the excitement.

On the 3, the raise lower feature requires the 4 way flashers to be on to work. It also needs to be programmed to the specific key.

Each key has it's own driver preferences and programming. So if your preference is suspension, and the wife has a preference of follow me home lights, I believe both can be happy, LR wise anyway.

Yeah those are the things I mean. So some are preprogrammed into the fob and others need to be by the dealer. Is there a definitive list somewhere of what the fob can actually be programmed to do?

Just a bit OTT (as in how to overcome a "feature" of the key), but I have overcome the challenge of what to do with the D4 key (touchless entry deluxe model) when I'm on the beach. One really doesn't want to leave the key unattended in a blanket and certainly swimming with it is a problem. The solution is an extra-large key lock box bolted on to the roof rack, above the passenger's seat. It's about the only spot I can find where the key won't allow for proximity door unlocking nor allow push button ignition start. The tricky bit is that these large lock boxes aren't readily available in Oz - I picked up mine on a business trip to the US.

    How about one of these:
Hitch Safe, Key Storage Hitches, Hide Car Key, Auto Key Safe, Trailer Hitch Covers, Receivers

    Raising & Lowering - D4

On the D4, you can use the fob as a remote control for the suspension.

    * Stick the hazards on & close the doors.
    * Press & hold the red triangle on the key fob.
    * Press & hold either the lock/unlock for a couple of seconds and then these buttons act as an up/down.

Short presses of the up/down buttons allow for small adjustments. Long presses will raise/lower the car quicker.

Would be nice if the horn did not also beep every time you lift or lower it when hitching up. We usually hitch up early hours of the morning.
