110 Shorland Mk5 Armoured Land Rover

I have been offered the axle assemblies, minus halfshafts from a coil sprung sprung Shorland Armoured Land Rover and am just wondering what the specifications are. Particularly the diff ratios and track width to see if it could replace the missing front Salisbury on Gog.

I'm fairly certain they are dimensionally the same as standard Defenders.
Saw an armoured police V8 Defender rolling chassis minus hull at ULR some years ago that had been rolled and was being repaired. It had a Salisbury front end and all the components outboard of the swivel housing bolt flanges were identical to normal Defenders. So that would make the track width 3'' more than a S2B.Don't know about diff ratios though i assume they would still be 3.54:1 with a 1.66:1` high range gear set in the transfercase.
 Bill.

The mk 4 shorthand used a series 3 chassis , 3.5 V8 and Salisbury axles, fitted with vacuum operated hydronic diff locks.

The mk5 was based on the 110in coil sprung defender chassis, the mk5 did have a wider track, and other up grades.

That's all I have dug out so far..

I had a Shorland here in the States for a few years. She had Saslbury axles front and back. Was a Series III with a 6 cylinder petrol engine. That engine was rare here in the US. I had to order a clutch Pressure plate and throw out bearing from England. The Shorlands were based off of 1 ton Land Rover Chassis.

Was it one of the Weslake head 6cyl? (removable inlet manifold)

Back in the series IIa era the North American Spec 6cyl Land Rovers had the Weslake head where the RHD versions in the UK and Aus had the lower performance integral inlet manifold head. The reason the RHD didn't get the Weslake was because the steering box and carby want to share the same space.

AFAIK the Weslake head on the NAS series was the one off the 110 and not the 3 litre engine.
