    Modern v8 engine

    Hi
Looking at replacing the old 202 in my old series SWB. Does anyone know if it is possible to put a modern (ie VR V8 commodore engine) in one. Do they fit, is it worth it.

I am sure you can make it fit. I have heard of 253s into LWB Series LRs. Anywhere a 253 fits a 304 will fit as well. You will run into issues with adaptor plates, gearbox strength, diff strength, overheating and rego.

Incidentally a VR V8 engine is far from modern!

Rebuild your 202 properly with the appropriate modifications and you will have an engine that is twice the power of any Series LR engine at any speed. In serious use it will have the capacity to chew up and spit out a series driveline.
