    Exclamation A D3 for $18 500 - is it a scam

Does anybody know the story behind this one?

2005 LAND ROVER DISCOVERY 3 SE SUV Private Cars For Sale in VIC - carsales.com.au

He says he has had 25 tyre kickers and is fed up of time wasters.

You'd think that one of the 25 would be interested. So what is wrong with the car?

I've just seen that and was suddenly thinking of selling the d2 and getting on a plane! Something in me does say that if it looks too good to be true it usually is......although I can't see what it is, bonnet shut lines a bit skew so could have some previous accident damage?

Could be legit. Main thing wrong with the car is it is a 4.0 litre V6, maybe that's the reason for the lack of interest. Potential buyer just needs to eyeball the car and do the necessary checks.....

Not giving consideration for currency conversion that seems in the price range. V6 is likely the undesirable factor. The 05's generally are going for about 16000US with a V8 4.4L.

    example:
18500.00 For sale Green Land rover lr3 55,000 miles perfect condition, very clean. V8 4.4 motor it has new tires.

You'd like to think so, but the Australian car market is a closed market (you can not import 2nd hand vehicles) so vehicles are very expensive over here.

The D3 in question is about 6k or 25% cheaper than similar D3s

Just being my skeptical-self... Very complete set of photographs....except the the left hand side. That's what I'd be having a look at. Maybe nothing though. Looks pretty good.

    Seems the issues are:
Located a fair way from any major population center.
    it is petrol V6.
Despite comments it is not 'fully optioned'.
Seller won't take responsibility for RWC.

The last two and the comments about time wasters would put me off contacting the seller even if I was l looking for a D3.
There is probably nothing significantly wrong with the car itself considering the a advertised price.
But in Victoria no RWC means selling unregistered, probably needs the front end done or something else that is going to require hand in pocket prior to RWC.

NSW rego but in Victoria. Even with a V6, at that price, I'd be interested if it was local — after all I drive a V8.

Cars are, to our eyes, incredibly cheap in the USA.
