R/R Sport memory seat!!

Hi guys,

My '06 RRS has electric seats but does not have the memory facility, can anyone tell me what all the needed componants are to convert the drivers (R/H) seat to have this option, can the componants from a P38 be adapted to fit and integrated into the RRS harness?

Whilst I've never looked into it, I think the P38A memory feature is part of the BECM, not the seat. Why? Because the two different keyfobs can set the seat to different positions, angle, height, i.e., driver 1 can set the seats and tie it to his keyfob and driver 2 can set the seats differently and tie it to his keyfob.

The memory seats require an outstation controlled from the BECM and feedback pots to tell the system where/how the seat is positioned. They also need information from the gearbox XYZ switch.

Have a look at RAVE for the P38A.

I can answer this one. You can't do it. The memory seat is part of the entire memory pack, that must be included when the car is built (like the e diff).
I purchased a demonstrator 2008 car that dealer informed me had memory seats. Turned out they weren't. Almost gave car back, and LR/Dealer went to fair bit of effort to see if memory seats could be retro fitted. Also went to all specialists. Answer was no. The correct answer was what I did, purchase a 2009 car with memory pack.

I will keep looking into the electrical system to see if I can either aquire the original parts (incl BECM etc) to fit or "piggy-back" a hybrid system from a P38 into it.

I have ordered a "genuine" RRS workshop manual and will compare that with my P38 Rave Manual electrical circuits.

If it works I'll post the info here and on rangerovers.net

I have searched the net and have only been able to find one that is available for download from youtube. The vendor claims, in broken English, that it is genuine however I have my doubts as it looks a bit doggy so I gave it a miss.

The only genuine one is on line through LR. There have been copies constructed from them but they are never comlete or up to date. I have one and it covers most things. Pay for access for a month and do your research or pay by the day when you need to know something.
