Retrofitting RRS Nav System screen with Rear-view camera video

I want to fit a rear-view camera to my 09 RRS TDV8 and use the factory navigation sytem monitor to (automatically) display the view to the rear of the vehicle when I am reversing.

A few months back, before I purchased my RRS, I found a thread dealing with this, except it related only to a Disco 3. Unfortunately, I have been unable to find that thread again.

I know this zone makes a point of the fact that an RRS is in fact a Disco, but they do not appear to totally the same. May be mechanicals and probaby electronics are (the same) but the dody panels and wheel base (and some engines) are obviously different. Preumably this means that , for example, the physical installation of wiring, whether it is to do what I want to do, or to route wiring for a separate caravan rear-view system, or to install a brake controller, will differ in some detail from that required for a D3. Or does it?

Anyway, the thread I can't find showed a video processor that physically interfaced with the Nav unit under the passenger seat, and one post in that thread detailed a completed installation on a D3. I would like to know if there is anybody with an RRS (up to 2008/2009) who has installed such a system to do this; if anyone can recommend a suitable AV processor to do the job; and if there are any installation instructions someone could point me to please?

    Thanks
    John ....

Sorry, just a D4 owner here, but you might be looking for something called the GVIF interface. Check out this thread, and in post 4 there is a link to the installation guide (albeit on a D3/4). Need to BYO wiring (ie can't use existing harness).

HIDs4U web site sell the interface that you are looking for. They are a UK based firm I believe and are sponsors on the disco3 site. You can probably also fit the camera as I have on my D4 direct to the back of the screen (there are 3 video inputs) but the reversing camera needs to be activated in the CCF (car configuration file) which requires buying your own Black box from black box solutions or finding someone who has a multi car license that can change yours. I bought the the black box, single vin lic, transferable.

Thanks for that lead; I'll be following it up.

Re my 09 RRS I am not aware a CCF that I might have access to either directly or indirectly via the 'black box'. FYI my RSS is not the update version that also saw the intro (as I understand it) of the D4. But irrespective I go the HIDs4U web site and see what they can offer.

    Cheers, John ....
