OK I got around to replacing the (rechargable) battery in my D3 key fob.
However, having changed my remote battery, how long will it take to charge up?
Is a short drive around the block going to be enough or is it a long drive in the country?
I do not know how long it takes for one of those lithium batteries to be fully charged. In theory however, a new battery should come near fully charged, so the remote should have probably at least locked the doors - I say locked, as with unlocked - where is the other key? I always keep a window down when I am fooling with the door locks.
I also assume the repaired remote will still operate the ignition so something is working. The removed battery, do you still have it and how close to 3 volts is it?
I would expect it takes more like a week of normal day trips to get one of those batteries fully charged. I kind of think those induction systems are more for keeping a battery up or back up rather than being what one might call a battery charging system. Also those batteries are generally in memory circuits that are normally always alive, hence the battery cannot be overcharged, but probably takes a long time to get to full charge.
The battery data sheet is below for what that is worth. The VL2330/1HF battery is the one often used.
