Some diesel fuel truths...
chatting with a tanker driver while he filled the diesel tanks at a local servo. Nearly all of Queenslands diesel fuel comes into qld via ship from Singapore to Gladstone, limited supplies from qld refineries go straight to Brisbane and southern deliveries. All diesel arrives exactly the same and are branded and additives are mixed in Gladstone so Caltex Vortex just has the additive in it etc.
I asked him about foaming and he said its inherent in the product and so bad the tanks foam up and overflow while hes refuelling, so next time youre gingerly trying put the last ten litres in your tank think of the poor tanker driver trying to put the last several hundred into the underground tanks. He said there anti foaming products available....think Wynns .....but not worth the cost....$8-10 to treat a normal tankful....
He seems to think that soon only imported diesl will be available in Australia and it will be mixed to brandname and trucked all over australia from 3 or 4 ports.

oh yeah, he also mentioned about 50mm of sludge left in the bottom of his tanks at the end of a trip. It cant get into the servos tanks because of the tankers valving but nevertheless in a 500km roadtrip it settles out.....probably good for us out here...means slightly cleaner product.
