    Angry Puma Xenon Headlights

So a bit of frustration today over the last couple of days. When I picked up my car a few months ago I ordered it with the upgraded Xenon lights. And this soon afterwards one of them has ceased functioning. Frustrating, but should be an easy repair..well so I thought..

Went into the dealer spare parts area and tried to get it sorted, only to be told by kid behind the counter that defenders only have a halogen bulbs, after discussing that this is not the case with him for a few minutes i brought up their website on my phone and showed it listed in the accessories and then he looked into it more. Funnily enough he found it listed then..

So then after a talk with his cohort 'supervisor? they established that they are a sealed piece so you need to replace the whole headlight and they didnt have any in stock. They then decided that they would have to confirm this with LR in the UK. So left me waiting overnight with one headlight..

Got a call back today saying that the information they had given me was right but they would have to get one sent from the UK then when it was recieved they could book my car in to fit it..so car indefinately without one headlight..

All this and we are leaving for our trip in a week...At least they have agreed to do it as warranty since they are many $$

    Sigh - rant over

I dunno if this is useful or not but to get you out of trouble until the new one arrives can't you just put a standard one in?

Problem is that the Xenon headlight isnt just a changed bulb, it is a sealed unit so the bulb is part of the headlight, in order to put a standard one in I would have to purchase a standard headlight as well. Not a cheap option in itself..

A standard 7" sealed beam headlight is cheap as chips at any spares store. (at a guess, $20 ?)

At 60/55w they throw bugger all light, but it'll get you out of trouble and you'll be legal.

    It's just a universal 7" round headlight.

The stock one takes an H4 halogen globe, but a sealed beam is cheaper and they available anywhere.

After posting I was wondering the same.

Being a genuine accessory headlight you'd hope so, or at least an adapter plug used to go from the main loom/plug to the new units.

In view of the legalities of driving with one light and your travel plans I would be insisting one be fitted immediately - even if it is taken from another vehicle. If not I would be either asking for a courtesy car or the dealership replace the lights with halogens until your new one arrives.
