    County Red Guard Painting Tips

    Hi All,

I'm pretty much looking for a new outer passenger RHS guard (bit flare screws onto) after a stick not seeing in hidden in some leafy bushes nearly holed it on the weekend. It's pretty banged up and would require reheating etc to fix

So I've found a new bare aluminium part. And I'll need to paint it, fading aside, to match the original
County 110 red. I'll loose a bit of the sticker but that's fine for now.

    It a 1985 V8 My questions are:

Does anyone know the paint colour code? Where can I fin it if not?
What is a good etch primer?
    What a good top coat?

I was thinking about just using a fine nap roller for now as the application method as I'll repaint the whole thing in a year or two anyway.

    Thanks

    Clive

    Any etch primer will do.

1st is a light coat of etch primer, then one-step primer putty, then rub back wet with fine sandpaper.

My 1987 county is Masai Rec, but I have had trouble finding anyone who can mix to the LR paint code.

Autobarn can mix you up pressure packs of paint, which is probably the best option for what you want to do. It will also allow you to feather/fade the new paint onto the surrounding sections, which will help make it blend in.
