    Traction control..

Hi all been in the market for a td5 defender for a while now and trying to wait patiently but there really is a lack on the market at the moment. I may have found one, a touch overpriced but it's totally bog standard 2001 model. No abs no traction control, I really thought I wanted traction control, am I right? I'm willing to compromise but is this to important, Or is it a bonus not having another thing like the module to go or sensors. Looking forward to replys...

nahh, it just means you'll learn how to drive rather than just sitting behind the wheel and aiming.

Traction control is handy but you could always fit a detroit to the rear, or arb locker as you have the salisbury axle in the 01 110 with either some hy-tuff or ashcroft axles.
The MAJOR advantage is the ABS which has saved my posterior twice when people pulled out without looking in suburbia.

Agree with Frantic. The ABS is the more important part of the ETC/ABS system. Well worth having IMHO.

Thanks for the replys, yeh to my understanding its well worth it. I didn't actually realize they came without the package. It was a bit of a deal breaker, and just wanted to make sure it was as I'd love to have bought one before the crissy break, but still don't want to rush it

    Trade Off

    Pre 2002 = Salisbury
After 2002= P38 Rear diff with Traction control

The holy grail is one of the 2002 crossover models with a Salisbury AND Traction control

2002 & Later also have the a flashable ECU and better head design with steel dowels tho most of the early ones should have been fixed by now (you would hope)
