Just joined ,First Post & Crapped Off big Time

    Hi Guys & Gals
Can not show my car yet so read on....
This my first post & would like to share my experience with
getting a so called expert & large National 4wd centre (What a Joke) to fit a Hemma 6 Nav to my Disc 4 its only a month old & love this car.
Puchased it new in Albury & drove it back to Perth (What a car) its
    not even run in.
Have had early RRs, Landcruisers etc & so far this car has exceded
    all my expectations.
All I wanted was to have the power connected to a extra cig
lighter type fitted so the cord did not drape over the dash
& the reverse camera hooked up to work thro the Hemma as its made for it, they said no probs easy!
To cut a long story short they had the car all day, rang to say its ready
go to pick up, they start the car, No height suspension working! No Terrain selection working! No door locks working, error codes left right & centre & went into limp mode!!!
Car now has to go to Barbagello Land Rover in Perth to get fixed & is going to spoil all our Xmas plans.
Can not name this so called expert 4wd centre yet, but will after all this crap is resolved.
It just goes to show how a presumed simple job turns into a nightmare!
They rang me today and said they had removed all the wiring & are now not interested in doing the job to hard! (What Job they just botched it & stuffed my car) & said they are not going to charge me, thanks for nothing.

Will keep you all posted on the outcome

Glad you live the car, and sorry to hear of your experiences. That is one thing I have taken away from lots of reading here is that as much as I love Land Rovers, they are unique beasts and you really need to make sure the place you choose to get work done is truly a D3/D4/RRS expert, and don't just trust them if they say they are. Lots of things from wheel alignments to trailer brakes and wiring etc have unique quirks that can't be addressees by the standard workshops.

    Thats pretty unfortunate.
I managed to DIY a similar job myself (power to a GPS, including relay and hook up a reversing cam to a Windows CE GPS) with the help of some guides posted on disco3.uk.co so you would expect a professional to be able to do a job like that with their eyes closed.

Hope it gets sorted quickly and painlessly for you

If you need a hand in Perth, let me know. Might not be able to do anything over Christmas, but early Jan should be free.

    Cheers,

For my HNi 6 I just run the supplied wire under the dash then up the side of the door. The wire is 99% hidden except for few inches where it connects. That took less than 5 minutes.

Never ever let a non land-rover person at one.Landies are unique and require someone that really knows them.We have all learnt the hard way.

LR's aren't unique, there is just alot of workshops, service centres, fitting shops about that have 17 year olds doing the work on basic wages that aren't trained or looked after in any way and are treated like nobodies so their work ethics aren't what they should be.Tyre shops are the worst IMHO. I have video footage of a "Reputable" establishment using my D4 as Taxi to pick a customer up...! They didn't see the GPS tacker/Camera fitted to the D4.

I asked for a please explain and got some movie tickets I never used. They will never see my D4 again.

It's happening across just about every industry. The young people have no real interest in their job. The are in it for the money. This is partially caused by the employers who have no loyalty to their employees. Why waste money training and developing them when they are just the hired help.
