    Cost Of lsd diff install

Hey im doing a trip up north of wa while pulling quiet a heavy camper trailer i thought getting the ashcroft lsd diff centers would really help me out but the only thing from stopping me is the price to get them installed. So far i have been quoted 1400 each from one place and 1000 front and 1200 back from another. Does this sound right? Im going to see a land rover center tomorrow but they seem to always be expensive so i doubt they will come in cheaper. iv been told its not a job u can do urself.

    Cheers Damien

What the?? I wish I could charge that much

3 hours for the front, 2 hours rear. Disco 1, 2 or Defender all the same price.

So, at $105/ hr that is pretty much way less than what you were quoted....

That doesn't include oil, sealant, carrier bearings etc but c'mon, $2K+ for both???

Does that price include the lockers???

    upgrade

Hi , I don't know how practical , or mechanicly minded you are , If you have a go yourself ,you won't be trying to repair , or find a problem. You only have to take apart and put back together , i'd like to think , there would be a few on this forum in the Perth area who would , Help you out , at a cost a lot less than you have been quoted .. lets hope so ,good luck ... jimr1.

Bloody hell indeed - when I read this thread earlier I assumed that it included the price of the lockers!!! It's a job that you can do yourself, although you'll most likely need a diff spreader to get out the old diff. At $2200 for labour alone I'd at least seriously shop round a bit more for a better price though, or find some mechanically inclined mates that want to give you a hand.

My Ashcroft LSD cost around $400 to get installed the first time and $350 the second time which included fitting a new crownwheel and pinion and lapping them in, whilst my Detroit locker in the sals cost $250 for install. All three by differential specialists.

Try transmissions r us in balcatta, they fitted my Ashcroft ATB's front and rear.
Can't remember the price but it was around a grand.
    Ask for a cash price
