I Learnt Two things this Holidays

    Firstly,

I had to hire a car trailer to recover our Daughters Amarok after she broke the right side strut on Lake Cobbler road, the trailer had LED lights and what I discovered was, one blinker won't work when you connect the trailer up to the D4, but, if you turn your headlights on, everything works perfectly

    Secondly,

Coming home from Victoria in all this heat towing the camper (40deg today and yesterday) the D4 started losing power up hills, at first we thought maybe we got some bad fuel, but as we got closer to home and the outside temp started to drop(27deg near home) the power returned.

I have two large Lightforce spotties on the front and was thinking, could this be part of the problem

    Cheers Baz.

My TD5 D2 would loose a lot of power on hot days until a larger I/C was fitted, indicating that the ecm logic of reducing power if the I/C didn't drop the inlet air temperature sufficiently was invoked. I removed the driving lights from the D4 for the summer because I also have insect mesh and didn't like the idea of having double restriction. The availability of some extra light in summer wasn't worth the risk of possibly damaging the engine, but I'll never know if removal was needed because I'll never test it.

Not a problem at all Baz but it was Kerry who did most of the helping. I was starting to wonder if the kit was ever going to be fitted. I'm jealous though of you lot's ability to get away so often.

The scary thing is here is Barry and I supposedly hands on kind of practical blokes and we had to get Kerry Bazza's wife to fit the Llams unit because we couldn't.

Mind you the bottle of Irish whiskey Barry and I consumed last night might have slowed us down a bit. That's the excuse I'm using anyway ...

Thanks Kerry for fitting the Llams and thanks Barry for assisting me with the Whiskey last night. ...

And thanks Graeme for the phone advice. ...

    cheers,
    Terry

Mine was showing 42/43 degrees outside air temp a few weeks ago,was not towing but had a bit of stuff on the roof, and had no problems.

What i did notice was the A/C was fantastic....

Baz,how did you go with the rims?

I learnt that if you want to travel north from Sydney to Brisbane any day after Christmas, don't bother (luckly I was south bound).
WOW what a line up, at least 20 mins of bumber to bumber traffic leading into Kempsey.
Hope everyone had safe and happy travels over the festive season.

I always go New England. Much less stressful much less traffic much nicer drive.

The towns do my head in on the New England, however the road works on the Pacific are just as bad.... how long to complete a dual carriageway, it hasn't seem to change in the last 5 years.
