i remember a time when one searched the internet on a topic they got more information than miscellaneous shopfronts trying to sell what you searched for?

I think it is time to slide the noisy dirty noisy inaccurate dirty and noisy 14in chop saw under the bench and only pull it out for off site work.

Anyone have opinions on the H&F BS-7DS or jump up to the EB-260A

I guess the question is geared drive or belt n pulley

Priority are single phase, must be swivel head to fit in with shed infrastructure (rolling stock rack ) and would prefer under 2 1/2 gorillas delivered to timbuktu?

I prefer belt drive stuff when I can get it usually because if something goes horridly wrong the belt will give before destroying other parts of the machine.

They also tend to be a little quieter in operation.

Soooo,
the deal on the belt driven was good - freight was good - its now in the shed
and like most tools you have been dreaming about for years
I cant believe I put up with a stinking chop saw for so long

This thing is a piece of beauty and slices quietly, cold (can touch the part as it cuts) and it is as accurate as my square!

Love it

Just jiggering the roller slides for it and bolting it to the slab

I don't have an opinion on either,if it doesn't fit in the cold saw then we go to plasma. But, I speak to the parts guy with the accent in Sydney and he is absolutely worth his weight in gold. He will give you the low down on each of the machines including design history, what has broken and frequency for durability and longevity, and what the manufacturer is like in terms of reliability, speed and accuracy in part acquisition. I speak to this man when buying machinery because its an honest account based on data and there is no sales hype as he is not in sales.

I bought it from the Brisbane store -

It seems pretty well put together. It is made in Taiwan so hopefully a step above MIC...The pivot arm has that irregular casting look but moving components, hydraulic feed and stops are all shmick
Im certain it will outperform my meagre abilities

I had tossed up going a plasma, but priorities of quietness and accuracy won over
