Well, I couldn't help myself and I just bought a MY12 brand spanker.
7 seats and white.
Gave it a 650km test drive back up to the goldfields from Perth.
So far, couldn't be happier. 2.2 doesn't sound big, but it keeps up and overtakes fine.
Now, all I need to do is personalise it a bit...
Currently can't stop smiling, love driving it. I will miss my rather unstandard rangie, it is a tank and went everywhere but not enough space.
Onward:-)
Ben
Sounds great!
There is a distinct lack of pictures in this thread...

Not sure how to post pictures from an android phone...
Rangie is a 1990 3.9 manual. 33" kumhos and ?? Spring lift, wheel arch flares.
It absolutely stonks, dunno if the motor is that special or if it was just blessed by being built by someone who was in a good mood at the time but it hauls.
I shall miss its loud and unrefined manners, and the fact it's horn sounded so weak as to be gender challenged. (I used the loud exhaust as a safety feature)
So far have driven new beast a few kms and the coolest thing is I still don't need to fill it up yet, which is a real change from the rangie.
Got a few bits on it I want to change, bumper, winch, snorkel, roof tent etc. And probably a whole lot of little things that pop up as I decide I want them.

Cool Bananas Ben! Congratulations on the new wagon. Looking forward to see some pics (another post for me to drool over while I wait the agonising year or so til I come into the market to purchase a defender of my own).
Cheers,
Nige

Im also looking to upgrade to MY13 110 so interested in feedback. May be looking at changing/upgrading seats if necessary.

I do believe I have this picture thing sorted.
Put my 285/75/16 KL71 Kumhos on it, looks a lot better with something grippy.
And also fitted a Mantec snorkel, very easy to fit.
So far have put 2000km on the clock. Really happy with the way it drives and the updated seats whilst not luxury are a huge improvement over the 1985 model I learnt to drive in.
I have resisted getting it too dirty so I can blow rust inhibitor up the chassis before its too late.
Im still grinning each time I drive it, and the extra space over my rangie classic is awesome.

Rog, I wouldnt bother changing out the seats. While not all that padded, a landy seat does hold your back in about the right place, I know a couple of physiotherapists and a chiropractor who own defenders for no other reason. The new middle row and rear seats are excellent compared to the 1985 machine I used to drive.

SubscriberNice! Just one comment on the tyres, land rover might choose to bounce the warranty on the drivetrain with oversized tyres. So you might swap back to factory tyres when you drop it off for service.
