Snorkle advice?

Hi all
I'm thinking about getting one of those round ufo looking snorkle air rams that sit on top of the snorkle. Apparently there are different sizes.
Are the biggest ones best as they allow more air in?
I know they're ugly as sin, but apparently they are great at keeping dust out of the air box.
I have a 3" exhaust & Just wondering whether they restrict air flow in anyway.

The guy at the turbo shop talked me into a thing called a "Syclone" which seems to be what you described. They need to be sized appropriately for engine capacity and max rpm to work as designed. Not sure if it is a restriction on the intake but I am sure a blocked filter is.

I reckon they look cool on the defender they give it that g4/ camel look I'm getting a mantech fitted next month with a similar top. Seen one on a 100 series the other day and that looked stupid as. As 2stroke said cant be more restrictive than a blocked filter

Since you drove it I took out the center muffler & put a 3" straight thru hotdog in its place. goes a bit better.

Sounds nice mate. I had one of my manifold studs break.
I took it to muffler place and had manifold ground flat, and all studs replaced. Turned out four had broken. The car runs a lot better now.

Just taking it easy Mick, guess we will be hitting the dirt soon enough, spent 3 weeks in Sydney so took it in to get my intermediate shaft o ring leak fixed and ended up getting the transfer case bored and steel sleeved. While I was there Ward had a look over the Landy suggested I should replace my engine mounts and get a new A-frame ball joint and Salisbury seal, that was handy because I a spare adjustable ball joint with me as well as a spare new Salisbury flange w mud slinger kit, they didn't have any probs fitting my parts.

That's a great idea considering you will be doing a lot of travelling.
