I have seen some comment on the web regarding the benefits of running the Freelander thermostat in the V8 and Td5 Disco's.
has anyone tried this in a Defender and if so what were the results?
Part# for the Td5 is PEM100990
Part # for the Freelander is PEL500110

Apparently the opening Temp for the Freelander thermostat is lower than the spec one for the td5 and the bypass spring is softer. meaning more water through the rad at lower revs?
There is mention that this alternative allows the engine to run cooler and is a good addition for warmer climates.
So possibly good if you have remaps etc. that could cause the engine to run hotter?
Lots of speculation here and I am certainly not advocating the idea but it would be good to hear from people that may have tried it or people with engine cooling knowledge as to the possible benefits or not.
