Puma remap erased????

I had an issuue with the Puma (with an Autologic remap) and took it to the local mechanic for him to read the fault codes.
He connected it to his "launch" thingy, read and erased the codes.
The problem ended up being the turbo actuator rod circlip coming off and the rod became disconnected.
The car now seems to be driving like it has a standard tune now.
Could the mechanic have done something to make it return to standard tune?

There is a very good chance that it has...

Speaking to Pete from BAS Auto's in regards to the pros and cons of maps, he warns that you ALWAYS without fail need to return the car to normal before taking it to ANY third party for service or specific work.

The reasons for this are way above my understanding of programming and the like. He warns that attaching any programming capable tool to a mapped ECU can damage the "firmware" and cause you to be locked out (not saying this is what happened to you!)

To quote him "if its locked out its scrap"

I would have a word with the guys who have done your map for advice and then try and reload it...

My understanding is limited but I don't see how plugging any thing into the port can erase a remap.
Surely you can plug in a scangauge or similar to read and erase fault codes but is the mechanics "Launch pad"(or whatever it's called) different.
What I know is the defender doesn't seem as powerfull since he erased the fault codes.

I'm not 100% sure on the puma ecu,

But there may be a 'reset ecu or return to factory settings' option. He may have done something like this to try and clear a fault code.

The other trap with them (assuming they follow the transit faults)

They can get stuck in the default limp settings upon clearing the errors. The new map is still there its just not being used. The early transit fix used to be clear the errors, ensure all the errors stayed clear then reload the map.
