HDC switch fault (different to other post)

My HDC was used some time ago and all was fine. I have recently noticed the switch is not 'active'

the switch does not seem to do anything when pressed. No lights come on .. and does not seem to active any mechanical process.

It sort of seems like its jammed down or is stuck down and won't come back up in order to register the activation or deactivation.

I have searched the forum but don't find anything on this .. its possibly just a broken switch, but I wonder if it may just be a fuse or something else causing he malfunction.

I will check all fuses etc now.

There are no warning codes (unlike the other post) and there are no issues when driving the vehicle. The only indication is that the HDC does not activate and the switch does not light up when activated.

So this last week or so I have found the top tailgate hatch with intermittent fault, the Fuel Guesge with intermittent fault and now the HDC switch faulty.

The rest of the car is pure joy however, so its not a problem as far as I'm concerned. Just about maintaining the beasty.

If anyone has a method of testing the HDC switch, any info would be great.

    Steve

Just trying a little lateral thinking, how old is your battery?

I have had it tested recently and very strong

Its an RACQ still under warranty and belting out top charge according to the RACQ bloke who checked when the starter stared failing.,

2 months ago had a starting (again intermittent) problem which has been fixed with a Starter motor rebuild kit being done by the local sparky.

all good in this area ATM ..

Thanks for your input though ..

    Sems to be switch itself

    Checked the fuse = OK

the switch is in the 'depressed' state and if coaxed up it rises back the normal position...

but when clicked again it stays down and has no activity so its my guess its thrown in the towel.

shall chase up another switch .
    thx.

Does the HDC come on when you select Mud/Ruts on the Terrain Response? This should be independent of the switch.

    Cheers,

Yes Mud Ruts shows the Green HDC light

Mud Ruts shows the green light for HDC and also on the offroad display. comes on and off according to the selection as usual.

This would signify / confirm, the switch is the problem, I would guess?.

    Thanks for your helpful suggestion.

To get it to work in normal mode,(not in off road mode) you do have to push & "hold" the switch.

Confirmation will appear on the instrument binnacle.

    Hi Coolum,

just had a very similar issue where someone had spilt liquid on the main
terrain response controls and had cause it to be sticky in operation.

Try spraying a little electrical contact spray down the HDC see if it free
    it up

    Cheers
