300tdi New radiator, water pump and p gasket

    Hi everyone,

I am planning in the next few weeks to replace the radiator (which is knackered), water pump and p gasket in my 300tdi defender, I have been lucky 250,000k's and no dramas so far but I am doing these jobs before something does go wrong and especially while I'm doing the radiator.

I was wondering while I am replacing these parts is there anything else I can do to make life easier down the track?

Also are you meant to use a sealant on the p gasket and water pump gasket?

Would you advise putting copper grease or something similar on the ends of the bolts when i do everything back up?

    Thanks,

    Shane.

Sealant not required but worth cleaning up the bolts & using a dab of copper grease.

I really recommend Loctite 518 gasket sealant on both! Although it is not necessary on the paper water pump gasket, I really recommend using it on the "P" gasket as it will definitely not leak, and you will not be pulling it off again! !
