check big fuses in engine bay near heater, check wire to injector pump and then cross terminals on starter motor with ignition on using a screw driver
Just went to get ice and the Deefa wont start. Not allowed to look as 27 coming for lunch and SHMBO said dont even think about it. Have to go to work tomorrow early so no time to look then either
Have power and all ingnition lights are a goer. 300tdi
So questions
1 Start at the ignition switch?
2 Start at the starter motor, has never given any trouble,
3 Starter solinoid?
Pulled the fuse I think it is for started, looks good.
Thanks all

By the description im with redrovertdi. I just replaced my starter six months ago or so due to the same thing but would come good every so often. In the end I was asking people at the servo to hold the key on start while I bash the solenoidso new one it was.
Starter solenoid.

Something as simple as a dirty or loose battery terminal connection will allow enough power through to illuminate dash lights, but not enough to make the starter even attempt to turn.

try the screwdriver accross the starter terminals with the key position on and see if it cranks and fires[it will/should crank still with key off]
Yep, will be solenoid. Mine did that b4 I replaced starter motor. Sometimes no problemo, others just a click or nothingSit turning ign on off for a while and presto! Much nicer with new s/motor though
