If it was purchased after jan 2011 the Australian consumer law will be your best friend. I have used it on a new car prior to moving to the land rover brand and was successful in negotiating a good result, that helped pay for the d4.

						SubscriberHi,
As some may recall my RRS has had some real reliablity issues. I raised a complaint with Office of Fair Trading, which Land Rover responded to - thought not as yet to my satisfaction. However, OFT has this complaint logged/recorded. As such if anyone else is having issues, I would suggest/recommend that they also use OFT to assist. It is free, and while they cannot enforce anything, I doubt that any manufacturer wants to see a raft of Complaints recorded against them.
Also, I was invited by LR onto their facebook page re the launch of the new RR Sport. Of course I obiliged, and posted my experiances. Nothing defamatory but certainly not complimentary. Within an hour I had facebook notification/reply, plus a private reply. By far the fastest reaction we have ever seen from Land Rover. Then of course they blocked me, I was no longer a "friend" of Land Rover.
So again, use social media to get the message across, Land Rover are watching this it seems more closely than anthing else.
Hope this helps if anyone else is having major issues

SubscriberAgree that is what I am using. There has been some denial from LR that it applies however we purchased in June 2011 so it certainly does. All they could talk about was warranty however this was not my claim. Mine was that the car shouljd never have been sold as it was not fit for purpose.

They do try that on. I cannot discuss brand or outcomes, but lets just say Its unusual to make money on a car after 12 month ownership
I had to go through a couple of hearings and eventually settled two days before final hearing.
They are all full of talk, and every brand has issues. The big thing is being confident that they have more to loose than you do by going to a tribunal hearing, as it then becomes public knowledge through sites such as Austlii ( they have an app worth installing too)
Why is it that new motor vehicles seem to be exempt from many of the Australian Consumer Law requirements - things such as the consumer's entitlement to have a faulty product repaired, replaced with new or money back (the consumer to decide) if it fails during the warranty period.
PS - the basic tenants of the new Australian Consumer Law already existed before Jan 2011 - they were just rehashed and re marketed by the authorities.

It is true that making the issues public and pushing that support is the way to go. Since VW's issues with their gearbox and engine management became public (helped by a coroners finding) new car sales in Australia of the Golf etc have halved - not only the models directly affected but all on them.
