Thread: I need a roll bar.

    I need a roll bar.

I am trying to get my 101 registered and have been told I need lap sash belts...which means I need something to mount them from.

I know the chances are rare but if anyone has one for sale?

    Cheers

What happened to your roll bar?? What happened to the standard lap sash seat belts?

It is intergral to the front door frames so I assume you do not have those either.

However you do not need the roll bar to mount the seatbelts. The original fitted arrangement has the the sash part of the belt bolted to the top of the outer section of the body work behind the seats.

There was nothing in it.....no cage or belts.
The engineers say I cannot mount to the roof...not strong enough.

Welcome to the forum Peter. I would do what Garry has suggested as far as seat belts go. Not sure if anyone would have a roll bar lying around in Australia, but they are available in the UK - I have seen a couple of second hand ones come up for sale.

Make sure you post some pics of you beast for us.

    Cheers - Gav

Not surprising as almost all 101s in Aust are canvas. I take it you have a metal roof - so an ambulance or a home made roof put on a GS??

    Pictures are definitely required .

Anthony Johnson in Melbourne is the only real supplier of parts in Aust and there might be a chance he has a roll bar off one of the ones he has wrecked.

Give him a call - here is his website Land Rover 101 - British 4wd Imports - Home Page

Don't take a lot of notice of the parts list on the site, I don't think Anthony has updated it for many years - always give him or Bev a call.

    Peter where have you gone.

On re reading the posts and given the vehicle has a tin roof, no roll bar, and no seat belts, I wonder whether Peter actually has a Series 2a/b FC rather than a 101.

    Pics will satisfy the curiosity.

    Cheers

Overseas at the moment so no pictures till I get back.

It is a RHD ex-radio tin top.

I bought it in the US and shipped it to Australia...seemed like a good idea at the time (sound familiar) but has proven to be a logistical challenge.

The PO bought it in the UK to build it out as a expedition vehicle but gave up.

It is low mileage, dead straight, disk brakes, overdrive, pertronics..but still running 24v.

Finishing up the mechanical overhaul but need tyres and lap sash seat belts (and something to mount them to) get it passed.

Ay help with either of the above would be great.
