    Harmonic Buzzing Noise

    Hi All,

I am regular reader of this Forum and value the experienced D4 owners who contribute to it.

I am a new D4 owner (MY13 SE SDV6), and like most of you guys have had a number of accessories fitted, including ARB bar and IPF spotties, Warne winch and Safari snorkel. These and other accessories have been fitted by an experienced 4WD shop which has serviced and fitted out my previous 4WD (Patrol).

Not long after the snorkel was fitted I notice a buzzing noise around 1100 to 1200 RPM with the motor under light load and when it seems to vibrate most. This noise occurs in different gears when in this rev range. I first suspected it was the snorkel as it has a slight rattle when I bang it with my fist. However Murphy's Law tells me it may be something else, and hopefully not the transmission 'shudder' noted in recent forum comments.

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this 'deep' harmonic buzz and would appreciate any comments.

    Thank you
    Bob

Mine gets a vibration from dirt/mud build-up on the gearbox tray when there's enough to be touching the exhaust pipes, which is almost always. However I usually only notice it at idle, not when driving even though I often see 1000-1100 rpm when turning on very light throttle.

Graeme I'm getting the exact same symtoms as you decrbe after an afternoon n the dirt (no mud, dry as). Thought I may have snapped an exhaust mount. Will investigate more during daylight tomorrow.

Alas unfortunately my problem is not just dirt. I have a small crack in one I the exhaust welds just before the left pipe joins the main system. Spewin.
Any one done this before? Cost to fix? Saw on disco 3 forum there was a builteton out regarding exhaust welds, even though my warrenty is finished can I still make a claim when there is a bulletin out on the issue?
