Thumbs up Spotted in Sydney: L plater in 1970's(?) Land Rover Series

This one made me smile yesterday.

Driving along Liverpool road near Burwood, trying to sort out what car to get my wife. I spotted an old Land Rover on the other side of the road and pointed it out to her, and she said she wouldn't drive one.

As the car got closer I noticed it had L plates on it... and the driver was female!

My wife had nothing further to say on the matter...

Not sure what year this one was but looked pre defender badges and in very good condition.

Took me back to my L plate days in a column shift Kingswood station wagon without power steering - If you can learn on one of those you can drive pretty much any car!

I spent a lot of time driving the families Veteran cars on my L's, crash box, no power steering, two wheel brakes, no seatbelts and hand signals to top it off!!

Taught me a lot about driving and especially respect for machinery, now I can hop into absolutely anything and throw it through the gears!

It's good to see other young people who are into cars and actively involved.

    Cheers
    Will
