    D3 centre of gravity

Was wondering about what effect a full Auxilliary fuel tank has on the centre of gravity and whether it sits below, potentially lowering the COG, or above, potentially raising it. My assumption would be that it sits either below or at around the same level as the COG.

This led to me wondering if having a full Aux tank may actually be a benefit in offroad situations if it potentially lowers the COG and reduces the risk of a rollover.

What say you, above or below or right on COG, and is it a benefit, a drawback or no real effect either way?

Well yes it's better than having Jerry cans on a roof rack but in a hill climb situation it's actually worse than a standard vehicle as the extra weight is at the back of the car, a spare wheel carrier makes it even worse resulting in less weight on the front end. Even on high crested clay / dirt roads you will definitely feel the weight back there!

Or on the other hand, when going downhill, it can be useful!

I have one, and you know I pretty much don't even notice it, UNTIL, I have to fill it

Come to think of it, the bar and winch, tank, RWC and 6th spare hasn't really changed much about the handling of the car, you get a bit more body roll and that's about it, when I have the muddies on it can have a bit more of a spongie feeling.

I love the fact that I haven't had to modify the car in any way after fitting these accessories, if it was any other car, well you know.

    Cheers Baz.
