Question Which person/company in Melbourne is the best place to do mods/non standard work etc?

When we take delivery of our "90" later this year, we will obviously take it off road on occasions, But whilst we certainly won't be members of the "Chapel St Set", it will never get used as some of you guys would think "as it should". It will in fact, be Wifey's "everydayer". So, some of the mods we may consider may not be "approved" by some of you guys.
So, if we want stuff done like Soundproofing with dynamat etc, carpets, or maybe a better stereo, rustproofing etc, in fact anything except normal Dealer service work, is there somebody in Melbourne that can do this sort of stuff PROPERLY, that knows Defenders inside out? I don't mind paying, as long as I get what I pay for.
    Cheers, Pickles.

I am in Townsville now but I do know that if you decide on anything to be fitted to a Defender give Murray a ring at Rijidij. As for soundproofing I fitted the sheets from Jaycar. Fairly expensive at about $30 a sheet. Worked a treat though.

The idea is you do it yourself & you'll get more enjoyment out of it.

And you are absolutely correct....problem is that I'm pretty hopeless at doing that sort of stuff...mechanical/practical stuff, I know how it all works, but pulling things apart, repairing stuff, simply is not my go,..I prefer to leave it to others who are professional at what they do....and that is certainly not me!..I wish it was....but it ain't!

    Hi Pickles2,

I can't help with specifics but a good car stereo place will be able to do the dynamat + soundproofing and a stereo at the same time. I used to work next to a stereo place and they were quite intrigued by my 110 when I got a heap of dynamat for it. The trick is getting place that gives a stuff...

+1. Got one of Murray's rear bars added (by Murray himself) and it was a "wow what a nice bloke and someone who gives a stuff" experience. We're looking at some things like gull windows and extended range tanks from Mulgo over the next year and I'll be giving Murray a ring about fitting them too.

Also completely understand you Pickles, I'm actually a real life Frank Spencer when it comes to DIY ... though I did manage to successfully drill two holes for our roof rack ladder that even line up , I'd rather leave it to the pros.

    Question

Thank you guys, for your "understanding".
Most of the people on here are "hands on", "I'll work it out", etc etc.....I REALLY WISH I could be like that....I reckon Wifey does too, she could then have someone to fix up stuff around the house....but we get by!
But it's a fact, some people aren't "Practicality/Hands On endowed", they just ain't,.....so, unfortunately, we have to pay someone, to do what most of you guys can do yourselves....LUCKY YOU.
So, I don't mind paying, I might have to save up/budget for a while, to get the dollars, but when I've saved the money, I'm quite happy to spend on getting what I want,.....as long as I get, what I want,...... a quality job.
So, if I did have a few of these jobs done, say fitting Dynomat etc, I'd want to know that the guy doing it, knew how to pull the seats out, knew how to get up under the firewall, & knew how to put it all back together PERFECTLY, so that it looks like "factory". Haven't found that person yet!!
    Cheers, Pickles.

I got a rear bar and I got Murray to help me with all the plumbing for the extra tanks from Mulgo. He had done it before and he even emailed me some photos to finish it off.
