    Pyrometer

I have recently found a list of things that I had intended to fit to my D4, but noticed that I had not yet addressed the installation of a pyrometer.

Has anyone installed a pyrometer on their RRS, D3 or D4, and if so what gauge did you use and where is it located ?

My REV app does not monitor EGT's nor can I find a device that does.

    Regards,

    Brett.....

The Torque app is supposed to (via an additional add-on, I think), but I haven't personally used it on mine.

Do you have an aftermarket tune or other reason for needing one?

Isspro do good ones. Almost universally used on North American diesels in heavy trucks. Some are temp only and other are temp and boost pressure.

I always had them. I even have one on my Touareg.
I tow some very heavy loads and quite regularly so do like to keep an eye on EGT's but have just plain forget to put one on.
I know on my VW and previous cars that when I use ultimate or vortex as opposed to regular diesel it runs about 50 degrees hotter, so would like to see how hot it gets.
Just like to keep an eye on it.

    Thanks Gordon.
They don't appear to have an app developed for iOS....maybe one day.

But doesn't your ECU already have it's own EGT probe which it monitors and keeps an eye on it? My 4 year old tdi car does.

What temps did you get from the touareg?

I suppose.....but I can't see how hot it gets. I once towed by EGT'S readings but have been slack for about 18 months.

With 3.5 tonne and heavy throttle, it well get to almost 700 and that's from the dump pipe.

Cruise is around 230-250 at 110.

Flooring without the weight as high as 620.

    What about a Scangauge II?

Sure, it's not an app, but then it is not a toy either!
