I've taken the alternator out due to a slight bearing noise developing, and will also replace the pulley at 2 O'clock from the fan pulley. (The fan pulley is central in photo & has the threaded shaft.)
I need to remove the fan pulley, so that the bracket to which the grooved idler pulley at 2 O'clock is attached, can be removed, to in turn remove the idler pulley.
The 4 holes on the fan pulley are not threaded, so you can't screw in a couple of bolts. None of the legs on my puller kit are small enough to fit in the holes. Just wondering if anyone has some advice please? Or do I need smaller puller legs?
Yes...I think you're right. I had another look, and it must be attached that way. Three bolts on the front of the plate; one from the drivers side, accessible with the alternator out; and just one tricky bolt to access on the plate from the passenger side of the block. Then the pulley bracket should come out.
