    Opinions please.

What are the long term ownership worries with the RRS.
Looking at a 07 tdv6 sport 138000km. Would be looking at long
    term ownership poss 300000k.
Any/all issues that should be known about.
    Thanks

    Andrew.

    Hi AKW
I don't know of any car that would last that long but if you meant 300k I think as long as you keep it well serviced you should not have any dramas Diesels like clean oil , air and fuel. Like any car there is maintenance and the harder you drive the dearer it gets. Just my opinion

Not owning a RRS myself, the only issue I see is your other vehicles will get little use.

There will be a few RRS drivers but the floor pan is the same as the Disco, it is probably a D3 running gear as well. If you want to know more about things other than the incab bits I suggest you search under D3.

With a 2007 RRS the following items may be due for maintenance or checking if already done

    - Brake rotors and or pads may need renewing .
    - Transmition fluid could do with a flush and renew .
    - Timing and HPFP (fuel pump) belts would be due in 2014 or 168k
    - Good service history is important .
    - Ensure you get it servised to sched and i dont think you will have any worries .

The above are the mian things to look for , there will be other normal things that go wrong as with all cars that are dealt with on an ongoing bassis .
    Enjoy and good motoring .

STFA, heaps of info on this and the TDV6 cars in general.

They are very similar to a D3; shorter wheelbase makes up for slightly lower suspension, suspension/sway bars a bit stiffer, higher standard spec. You do pay more for one though.

Fantastic looking vehicle, turns heads wherever it goes, can't go on a single trip without someone asking about it; you do pay for the sloped roofline etc with less luggage space, but that would be the only negative I see over the D3 - sure someone with a D3 will attempt to correct me on that

There is an issue with the TDV6 engine of 2007 vintage, which is the oil pump housing has a weakness in it where the cambelt tensioner mount snaps off and has the same effect as a broken cambelt. Not a common issue, but potentially very expensive, and rectified by replacing the oil pump housing with the updated version when the belts are changed.

It's a $100 part, and needs an extra couple of hours labour to fit when the cambelt service is done, but worth it for peace of mind. Some places will not do a cambelt replacement without the oil pump being replaced at the same time.

    Some considerations:
Transmission service or replacement if not serviced
    Air Suspension compressor
    Handbrake actuator

That's about all I can think of at the moment. None of these are reasons not to buy the vehicle though. Just be forewarned, particularly with the transmission. If the vehicle has done more than 100,000KM without a change of the transmission oil be wary. There's plenty of info on here use the search and have a look at the D3/D4 FAQ as well. My 2008 D3 has 235,000 km and is going strong.

How often do you change the auto trans oil?

235k a good run for the vehicle.
