LED Trailer light problem - cheap solution

My trailer got burnt out during the recent bushfires and had to be rewired. They sold me LED lights but when I hooked it up to the FL2 I got the flashing lights problem, the reversing sensors were still operating and the indicator on the dash was haywire. A quick google found it's a common problem for Euro cars and to fix there is a cable, but the cost....$300 . I asked around and found out that Ford sells a cable for $34 they use on the new Ranger. I had to modify the end of my existing cable so Ford's cable could plug into it, Ford's is a 12 pin, but that was very easy. Anyway, it works great.

Or you could make a load box using resistors.

I resisted the urge to do that....groan. I can use the cable on any trailer I might need to use

Have looked at the ford one for our amarok, but have read mixed reviews as to whether it works on some cars and not on others. Might still get one though.
Load box is the same, can be used on any trailer

The Ford dealer let me try mine and would refund if it didn't work which was nice of him. Your biggest problem is that there isn't a 12 to 7 pin converter. I have the Land Rover adapter and had to cut the plastic off the end to allow the 12 pin to connect.

Excellent - I already have 12 pins so I might try it - which ford dealer did you get it from ....

This is after I take out the linear electronics box that fried my trailer module fuse ;( ( not sure but I think I got a faulty module)

The flat 12 pin plugs are supposed to connect direct to flat 7 pin sockets. So you should be able to use the 12->7 pin adapters

The big problem is that on the Euro (ISO) wiring, Pin 5 is the right side tail lamp and on Australian plugs this is the electric trailer brake circuit. So you need to isolate that pin on the car.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

I had to butcher a piece of plastic off the 7 round to 7 flat to get the 7 flat part to plug into my 12 plug when I had to borrow a mates car with 7 round socket. Works fine though.

any pictures of the Ford cable? Where are the extra bits located, can the 12 pin end be chopped and replaced? Hate adapters.

Does this stop the LED flickering as well as letting the car know it there, or does it just put a load on the line and LED still do their test flicker?
