MY13 D4 iPod connection

First of many "obvious" questions.

As I prepare to install the Permagrin, I am faced with a 9 hour drive home, once I collect the new car...

Do I need to take a lead with me to connect the iPlod to the car, or is it already built in?

Secondly, if I take my Galaxy 2 tablet with all the music on it, will the car play it direct, obviously with a usb lead?

Depends on the stereo option. I have an MY12 SE with a standard stereo. I have the option to connect an iPod via the cord or to use Bluetooth audio. Both sound as good as the other but you can browse he menu with it plugged in.
Not sure about the Galaxy but I can play music off a USB stick OK as well.

I have a MY13, you need a cable for an iPod, if you wish to have you're phone connected via bluetooth.
You can of course use your iPhone (if you have one) as a bluetooth phone and iPod.

You can get all technical or.....................buy a one metre 3.5mm male to male stereo lead and just plug it into the AUX socket on the back of the centre console. It'll get you home with no heart ache.

In summary, yes def take your syncing cable.

I have the upgraded sound system but I suspect the following remains true IF there is a USB connection plug to the stereo.

You need a syncing cable to plug into the bottom of your iPod and then the USB plug in the cubby bin (where there is also a tray to keep your pod out of sight). This gives you the ability to search for tracks, albums and play lists via the sound player and the steering wheel and it also keeps the pod charged. Buy an extra cable for the iPod and leave it in your car. (in fact I leave my iPod in the car) and use my laptop through the stereo at home.

Bluetooth music from the iPhone works well in sound quality but menu controls aren't as good, and it does drain your device.

My MY12 HiLine sound system comes with two USB sockets so I can run the iPod and have the iPhone on charge. As mentioned before, when the iPod is operating, I cannot switch to the music on the phone other than by Bluetooth even though there is the two USB sockets.

I have my iPad for music via bluetooth, and iPhone for calls via bluetooth. Or can just use iPhone for music and calls.
My lad at times plugs his iPod in, and my iPhone still works fine via bluetooth.
Works perfectly on my MY12 with all combinations.
On the other hand, I gave up trying to pair an android phone.....functionality was just not there on my car....or maybe I am so used to iOS and don't get android.

Yes in my MY13, thats exactly what I do. iPhone on bluetooth and iPod via cable for music.No drama at all.

I was only going the iPlod route, as I didn't realise that the Hi ICE would play direct from a flash drive. As it will, I dont need to get my hands dirty

Has anyone encountered any issues with a maximum capacity of flash drive that the system will take? 8gb seems to be the norm these days, but I am sure I have a couple of little ones floating around if needed.

I will BT my robot (Android) to the car, and all should be sweet.

no probs connecting androids via BT - both wife and I have one each and they work fine. for music I have both USB flash drive and an iPod connected via cable. never had an issue.
