    Auto sticks in 1st gear

My 2005 Auto TDV6 SE,(176,000kms) very intermittently, sticks in first gear. Using command shift is the only way to shift up when it occurs. Not a major inconvenience but it has occasionally happened over the past 18 months and seems to occur only when sitting in slow city traffic.
The auto box has been recently reconditioned with a replacement internal clutch (burned out) and new torque converter. The sticking issue was happening before the major work, and has run perfectly for the past 3 months/5000kms but has now reared it's ugly head again. I assume it must be electronic but am loath to swap the ECU for such a highly intermittent problem.
    Has anyone had similar issues?

I have had my gearbox inappropriately hold 1st in the past - it does not sound like mine was nearly as bad as yours (ie. mine would change up eventually but far far later than I expect). Mine was cured (and crept back and was cured ... ) by a hard reset. You could also try having the transmission control module reset which may have some effect. Your mileage may vary, good luck !

Mine will hold first up to ~3k revs sometimes. Very random.

    Mine does it as well,randomly.
Usually when hot and after backing out our driveway, then going down the road, which is downhill.
Seems to hang until around 3k rpm.
    When cold,never happens.
