I'd say it's just Christmas.
People getting last minute stuff, wanting to get it ASAFP before the big day/new years and so they put the prices up accordingly.
Your own fault for not finishing the D3 sooner![]()
Perhaps use the AULRO courier service?
What's going on with freight prices and freight timing at the moment? 2 orders from two different companies in two different countries and for both the cost exceeded the original estimate by a huge margin.
The first was a fair number of parts to just about finish the D3 over the Chrissie break. Original estimated cost £117. Final quoted cost (before I removed a number of parts to cut the freight cost) £367
Original estimated delivery date 23rd December. Revised delivery date 2nd Jan - so much for getting it done over Christmas!
The second was some plastic trim parts from TRS (very helpful guys). Original freight estimate $60. Actual freight cost (or would have if I hadn't removed the bulky items from the order) $214.
So are the freight companies just turning it on for Christmas? Or are the importing carriers starting to add the "Australia tax" too?

I had a freight pick-up ordered and paid for from central Queensland.
Truck driving through didn't stop because it was "too hot". Go figure.
What made me laugh about the cost of stuff from TRS in Adelaide, was that for over two hundred bucks, I could drive there and back cheaper!
I wish I could have finished the damned thing sooner, I'd talked to our neighbour about taking our boys camping over on North Stradbroke Island over the school holidays.![]()
