    Rusting posidrives

    Hi Guys

Since moving up to Noosa from Canberra, have noticed that all of the posidrive door hinge bolts etc are starting to rust. So much for LR galvanising cad plating. Not really acceptable in SVX which is always "on show".

Did notice in the past that some were replacing with stainless bolts. Could do that, and probably will. However, has one of the entrepreneurial members put together a "kit", would be much simpler and handy

    Cheers

Nakatanenga in Germany produce the correct set for your SVX if it is a 90. I am pretty sure that it is this one here, but probably wise to contact them by e-mail to provide details of your exact model, so that they can confirm or direct you to another of their sets. Quality is top.

If like me, you have a 110 SVX SW it would be this one here. Just confirm with them before buying.

Alternatively in the UK there is Stig Fasterners who produce good quality sets of SS screws for specific Defender models. Again, check with them direct which set you need for your model.

When you install them, don't fortget to use an anti corrosion paste to avoid corrosion caused by contact of two different metals. One of the best is DURALAC Anti Corrosive Jointing Compound. Not sure about availability in Australia, but you might have similar compounds. If not, you can buy it again on the internet in the UK. Just google it, I found one seller who would ship internatially, just don't remember which one this was.
    Good luck.

Remember to apply isolating material if going stainless... As you're about to introduce electrolysis without it...

Easier to undo 1 bolt, clean and spray with Galmet and once dry refit..
    Repeat for all bolts...

    And you're greatly over-rating a SVX.
Wait a few years, it won't fetch much more than than its less flashy siblings... Just the way it is unfortunately.

Steg Fasteners in UK do packs of nuts and bolts for specific Land Rover models. They are a stainless steel company. Do mail orders to anywhere.

First part - Yep, am/was LAME and ex FAA. Duralac would be better though.

SVX - Overated, definitely, eye catching and head turning, that too. People still stop me in the street as I'm getting into or out of.

May "look the goods" , but underneath is still a 08, 09MY Defender, just ask a finance or insurance company

    Cheers

Even when replaced with SS they will still bleed rust stains from the threads. I have this with mine and have liberally applied lanolin etc to the internal thread plates. Not sure how to stop this altogether.
