    D3 cranks but won't fire

The mrs pulled up at her friends place yesterday in her 07 TDV6 with the car running fine. Went out 10mins later and it won't start, I went around and it's got plenty of battery, cranks over fine, just like its out of fuel. Tank is full she just came from the servo. Any ideas on what gos wrong to cause this, have found two common faults on google, crank sensor and key fob. Is there anyway to test these before I start throwing parts at it?

What fuel did she put in?

Edit: The behaviour is characteristic of petrol having been put in.

    Hi Gedsar,
Could be the Fuel pump ( HP or LP )

I thought it won't even crank if the Key fob is not accepted ...

Is there any codes stored when you push the Info button on the Lights stalk ?

Do you have any easy way to get the fault codes read?

    First thought for me too.
There is a bleed valve on top of the engine. Ignition on but don't start the engine and LP pump will work. press the valve and see what comes out.
    Could be expensive.
    Insurance claim if it is.

Thanks everyone for you comments. I have spoken to Gedsar (he is an old friend) and asked him to check if fuel is coming out of the bleed valve. I also suspected the fuel and he is going to check the fuel filter.
It definitely sounds like a fuel problem to me so I suspect fuel pumps, wrong fuel or dirty fuel. She has owned the car for a while so hopefully it hasn't been filled with petrol, maybe it got a dose of water.

Thanks Guys, only got to it just before dark. Tried the spare key and no go, getting liquid out of the shraeder valve but doesn't smell nowhere as strong as the stuff I had in a drum. Might have been a dodgy batch of fuel ill try and siphon out of the bottom of the tank tomorrow into a clear drum. Def wasn't petrol put in checked the fuel docket.

Don't lose that fuel docket. It may help support a claim if there has been a fuel contamination problem. Keep a copy if you have to part with it.
