    My New Brake Master Cylinder

    If you put your Series 2a in the workshop for a brake bleed and new master cylinder - [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif[/img]
    and then you get it back, drive it around for the day and then find the wheels won't turn any more - :?:
    AND then whilst taking it back to the workshop at their request (after they have released the pressure on the brakes) you find that your clutch isn't permorming as well as it was before (ie now slips in 3rd & 4th) - :x
    how much would you except to contribute to the repair of the clutch?

    I only ask because that's exactly what happened to me today.

    Apprantley there was a seal in the master cylinder that was put in the wrong way around which caused excessive pressure build up which locked the brakes on whilst it was being driven. I only noticed when I went to stop and it did. Quickly!

    definately a "<span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:100%">NOT HAPPY JAN!</span>"situation. If they admitted the fualt ,i would not be paying a cent towards replacement of the clutch, any disagreements ,i would suggest you go straight to dept of fair trading ,or the small claims tribunal, either way not a good way to have to replace your clutch

    8) g'day wayneb, stuffing the stoppers is pretty sad, so they gotta fix that for you,
    i don't dig enuf from your post as to wot happened to the clutch.
    so before i would jump up and down about the clutch i would like to know a bit more.
    if the clutch is slipping now [in any gear] and i presume it wasn't before you took it to them,
    and if they got the brake thing wrong, did they play with the clutch cyl. and jigger something [ie the bleeding] like get them mixed up?
    but you say it slips in 3 & 4th which in any normal situation would be less noticable as you are usually on the road at whatever speed to go up a gear, and that change is a progression as you increase speed or to reduce engine rpm. so how did you discover that it slips
    so that brings me to the question : how long since a clutch has been put in it, 'cause it takes a lot of work to bugger a clutch,
    they last for years under sensible driving.
    clutches don't just fail [well not normally]
    i would ask i they frigged with the clutch master cyl, in mistake, or if while fixing the brake they could bleed the clutch also, as they have caused so much inconvience.
    this will be interesting to hear wot they say, but i don't think a new clutch is on its way to you

    They ARE responsable for ANY repairs liable from their dodgy work, if their incompitance resulted in premature wear of your clutch then they are obliged to repair it to the state that it was in,when it arrived in their shop (unless they can undoutably prove other wise).
    Dodgy workshops **** me off :x , they cost everyone that goes there time and money. If they don't agree to repair it for free then take it straight to consumer affairs.
