hi mike i have oe in the shed jim
I gave up trying to buy the lay gear for my Fairey overdrive I searched all over the world and there are no new ones available. The second hand ones looked a bit dicky so that only left one way out ,make one. I know a good gear cutting firm in Perth who have done work for me before but someone else was paying for it. It's not cheap to make one offs but now I have a program and the correct hob to do the job. If anyone else is after a lay gear RTC 7192 I can make one. Another one off will be expensive but if I run off 10 or more the price comes down. Craddocks where interested in getting some for the UK market as well.

hi mike i have oe in the shed jim
I needed a new one Russel all the other bits are new and if I put a used one in then everything would wear very quickly. Anyweay its all done if you have a brand new one still wrapped in grease in let me know.

Hi there. I am keen on getting one of these, they are very hard to find. The one you got made looks very good. What material is it made of and is it hardened or is the material itself hard enough to resist wear and the bearing pressure? Perhaps it is made in the same manner and material as the original? I live in Sweden and an approximate price on carriage and the RTC7192 would be nice.
Does it seem to happen anything with craddocks or any other vendor? I am still interested in the price for making just one as well. I am not very interested in a worn second hand.
Hi Robban
My lay shaft was made by a very good gear cutting firm here in Perth then sent to Another company here that builds crushers for mining . They did the hardening. It's identical to the original part all coordinates are stored in the CNC lathe and the gear hob is fairly new. My one off cost $800 Aus another one off would be the same plus freight to Sweden . It may be easier to find a good firm over there to do the same.
