You can check the VIN on your vehicle to determine if a DPF is installed. Check this post to see how:

I was lead to believe Australian Disco's don't have DPF"s
From my experience with work - DPF & EGR's are swear words and should be avoided at all costs! Foul things, caused us all sort of gremlins

						SubscriberHi,
I have a M14 disco and the VIN does not fit either in the link (SALLAAAN....).
I was told it had a DPF but sales guy.
I hope he was wrong as I went through some trauma with a DPF on my previous car (Pajero) where I eventually took off the DPF and replaced it with a Chipit dlete pipe. A noticeable performance improvement. Not sure if totally legal though

Register yourself on the topix site and enter your full VIN there. It will tell you every thing about your car:
TOPIx - TOPIx

Just had a thought ( first one for the day ... ) if it had a DPF, it would most lightly have some form of warning lamp in the dash board, might see it on start up, on a truck we call it the fart valve... As it looks like a picture of a you know what with gas coming out of it

No DPF on disco's in oz yet, suspect EU5 spec cars at the next major update (D5?) will get it.....probably some compliance/testing process thing going on.

SubscriberI think the display is mentioned in the hand book.
The display normally comes up at start time and then disappear or it did on my last vehicle (Pajero).
I haven't noticed it but wasn't looking for it and LR may do different.
I sure hope my car does not have a DPF - they are real pain and if you read the section on issues with DPF in the handbook you will know why
Richard
PS I like your description of it - it is appropriate
