Forum thoughts on D4 BULL BAR RUNOUT - $2,675 fitted

    Hi all
Just had this drop in my mailbox from Landrover and wondered what the opinions of others on the forum are regards the Landover OEM Bulbar quality, practicality, value and price? Very happy to hear all your views. Cheers David

    Useless piece of bling!!!

Whilst not as aggressive as a ARB/TJM they also aren't in the league for protection either!

Thank god my D2 came with a bull bar. Nearly 3 grand for a runout ? WTF. At that price I'd just claim on insurance when you hit a skippy. Will work out cheaper in the long run.

Ditto all the above! It has got to be the worst looking accessory ever made by LR. Don't like the stainless look for starters as it detracts from the front of the car, fitted with next to no separation between the front end and the bar itself.

They should have done a deal with ARB or EC, designed in the UK where the largest animal your likely to hit is a hedge hog From what i understand, and correct me if I'm wrong but the airbag sensors work on forces of deceleration which occur on impact. They have crash tested the LR bar and know that it works where as i don't believe they have crash tested any of the ARB or EC bars actually on a D3 /D4 so can't officially say that they are air bag compatible.

I have been unfortunate to have sent 1 med. and to XL skippy's to skippy heaven with no damage whatsoever to the car!

Yes they do - bars have to be certified to the vehicle to be fitted legally so are air bag compatible for the D3/D4

It's actually designed in Australia. The handmade (completely fabricated, not pressed) prototype is hanging above my old office.

For that sort of money you should be able to get an ARB or OL Bullbar c/w winch.

At one stage it was thought that the ARB or OL bull bar might affect your warranty due to concerns over extra weight on the air suspension.

Subsequent investigation by Robert Pepper found that this was not the case as the removal of bar & irons to fit bull bar balanced it self out, this also applies to winch fitment.

Thus it would be very difficult for Landrover to prove the fitment of brand name bulbar caused mechanical problems & then deny warranty claim.
    Cheers

Oops stand corrected on most counts then, it was the LR rep that told me about the crash testing at the LR stand at last years castle hill show. It might have been an idea to offer / show one of the bars colour coded, it just looks a bit Hummerish (bling) in my opinion.
