    Aviation Fans: A380 rollout !

I know there are a few aviation fans around the place so I have added a new album as a sub album of mine in the gallery:

    http://www.aulro.com/modules.php'set_album...=view_album.php

Latest photos ( 8 ): Rollout of the Airbus Industries A380.

    Big sucker, ain't it ?

Deliveries begin 2008 and yes, QANTAS have ordered some.

Only problem is that many airports will have to be adapted to handle the aircraft

Wider wingspan and 2 decks means it will need redesigned aerobridges. Also many runways will need lengthening and some will need reinforcing (thickening!) for the weight.

    Cool, huh. 8)

Specy Pic Vlad. Didn't realise they were getting so close to entering service.

It still amazes me that companies are making aircraft bigger, rather than more economical considering the current climate in the aviation industry. Especially when you have to modify airports to accomodate them.

That said, many times in the past airports have had to be modified to take larger aircraft.

They are (will be) more economical on a cost/pax/mile basis - that being the whole idea.

But do you want smaller aircraft ?
How about a (slightly) smaller private jet ?

Oh - you mean the aeroplane. Thank God :!:

There are no comparitive photos available on the airbus site.
    Can't imagine why not.
This would be a great way for AI to say to Boeing: "nah, nah ours is bigger than yours" :!:

By the way more pics and graphics are at:

You may note there are no kero burners attached yet.

But at least they have provision for the right number of them... 4.

And no denying pistons make a great noise, but it would take a few RR Merlins to get that bugger into the air :!:

Funny that you guys should mention kero and diesel burners, didyou know that a C130 Hercules can be run on diesel in an emergency?
And when the army gets it new M1A1 Abrahms, we'll be running the 1500HP turbine engine on diesel?
The dieso shortens the engine life but then that sort of idea is pretty typical of our fish-bummed defence force!
