Disco 1 rims for Defender Question

Hi


A friend had 3 Disco 1 steel 16x7 rims and handed them over to me as he had not need for them. See pictures


Question is, can I put 265/75 mud tyres on these without any issues on defender regards to touching?
The other question is, if yes to above question, I will need to find one more of these rims to make a set of 4. Any recommendations where would the best place be to look for one or two.


BTW there is a print on the rim 16x7J H2x33 if that helps

They should fit fine, that's what we use up here.

See if the tyres rub on the chassis on full lock either way - if this bothers you adjust the steering stops.

In terms of the steering stop I was told by the LR technician in Melbourne that he adjusts all new defenders to increase turning circle. So I suspect it is already adjusted.

if you fit wheels with what may be a different offset. you may have to just check

On the rim it has x33 stamped, would that be the offset and would that be enough?

As far as I can remember, the rims are a positive offset, many years since I have had some of these rims though.
Many years ago I had the centres cut out and flipped and re welded and balanced, creating a rim with roughly -33 offset.
I believe that other forum members have also done this to these rims too.
Going to a 265/75 from the standard 235/75 gives you roughly an increase in overall tyre height of 45mm and and increase in width of roughly 40mm, so your steering cannot be adjusted quite as sharp as with the standard 235/75s.
Getting the centres flipped or rims with a neutral or negative offset would probably be the best thing for increasing the steering capability.

P.s.
I think the standard defender 90/110 rims are also a +33 offset, and the sawtooths are a +20 offset.
Dynamic rims sell neutral and negative offset rims for defenders.

Just read Rijidij's reply, he is correct, I stuffed my measurements up..... Flipping the centres brings the wheels to a neutral (0) offset, rather that a negative (-33)as I quoted.

Adjusting for a tighter turning circle would make things worse with 265's on standard D1 rims, they would definitely rub on the radius arms.
It's a common mod to change the offset of the D1 rims to zero when fitting bigger tyres to a Defender/County.

Don't put them out for hard rubbish if you don't end up using them, I'm looking for some to complete a set, as I'm sure others are.

I won't be throwing out, I was just kidding. I only have three at this stage and I will be looking foe another.

Watch the disco rim load rating as I recall they are not strong enough for a fully loaded defender. I had considered this myself but needed the full load rating.
