Defender insurance - not daily driver

It was time to renew my '95 Defender insurance today.

Last renewal I went with Shannons because they would give a reasonable agreed value compared to the previous insurer which was $9K maximum. It did get me thinking when they charged nearly the same policy price for a $13.7K (max agreed value) Defender on low Kms usage as I paid for a $40K Ford Territory on business use.

When I changed the rego on my Series I policy (RACV Classic) a month ago I found that RACV Classic will cover cars over 15years old so I rang them today and organised a policy for the Defender. Limitation is that it's for max 9,000Kms and it mustn't be your daily driver. Also they won't do monthly payments.

    Shannons - Agreed value $13.7K - payments $55 per month total $660.
RACV - Agreed value $15K Total $410 !! (I did score discounts for having other policies with them)

Unfortunately with both you cannot have salvage rights until the vehicle is 25 years old but this seems common with most insurers.
