    D4 Voice Command

    Hi All,

My 2009 D4 has the H&K soundsystem and touchscreen with SATNAV. It also has BT phone connectivity. Voice commands work on both the phone and the SATNAV.

My 2013 D4 has more BT capability than the old one but doesn't have SATNAV. It does however have the Hi-Ice H&K soundsystem with touchscreen and reverse camera. Voice command does not work at all. Obviously without SATNAV that part would be gone but I though the phone would still work.

    Is this correct? Seems weird.

    Cheers,

    Kev.

That does seem weird I have a 2013 HSE and all my voice command works so I'm not sure seems odd though.

Nat89....I guess the hse has satnav ?

The op does not have satnav, which I think was his point?

    Hi Guys,

I've been looking into getting a non-OEM SATNAV integrated, which is pretty expensive but doable. However, the LR Voice Command feature doesn't work with any of the ones I've looked into.

So, I'm surmising that Voice Command is a feature of the LR SATNAV module and not the sound system. But once you have SATNAV, it 'allows' other devices to use it's Voice Command feature.

I was hoping that someone with a similar set-up as mine; touchscreen and reverse camera but no SATNAV could confirm this. As in confirm that their Voice Command doesn't work either.

    Cheers,

    Kev.

Cause I've been naughty VladTepes and haven't even looked at the handbook yet ..... cause I've been flat out and it's the second D4 I've owned. It may or may not be covered in the manual .... but I just thought I'd ask here first.

Other owners with the same option build and same outcome would be a fairly conclusive pattern.

Finally got off my arse and looked at Topix ....

Voice command is selected OFF .... or in their terms "Less Voice Activated Controls".

So that explains the why it doesn't work but not the why was it selected that way. As I said earlier, I think it's to do with the SATNAV Module being the enabler....I will get round to asking LR.

Just wanted to know if other owners had no SATNAV but Voice Command working...

    Cheers,

    Kev.

I would also be interested to see if anyone actually uses their voice command feature? I have the HiIce with Satnav in my 2013 disco and never use it (except to annoy the wife). Makes for a laugh saying "Navigation... Cancel Guidance.... Yes!" As opposed to just pressing one button to cancel guidance from the home screen

    I am slow I know!

I have had my D4 since Sep 2011 as my every day driver. I am only just now re-discovering the vehicle and the voice command stuff. I am using it to dial phone numbers and Nav to home the next bit is to store my voice commands for commonly used numbers and locations.

    Bloody great I reckon!

Mind you it would be far easier to set up if I had a six year old to do it for me
