    1994 defender tdi 300

hi people, haven't been on in a while and need some experienced advice.... have acquired a little problem with me 110 defender, still goes pretty well but seems to hesitate while accelerating. is fine once up and going down highway on 100-105. but through the gears it hesitates, so far i've just put a fair amount of injector cleaner through it in the hope that it works.... thought i'd mention that fuel consumption is still fantastic. the hesitation is not a miss fire just seems to lack fuel or air or both maybe...... any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
    cheers defender rover mick.

check the hose to the boost aneroid, check the fuel filters and check the condition of the plunger in the fuel cut of solenoid.

it could also be the air filter, the intercooler hoses, or the valve clearances needing a little loving.

Whilst Dave has mentioned the most obvious issues to be checked, it was an air leak in the fuel line (fuel sedimenter lock) on mine. The symptoms were almost similar to the ones you described and I initially suspected the fuel lift pump to be faulty before finding the real culprit.
